Feed Your Head Microcosmic Energy
Post originally published 2018 and updated as a companion to our X space Sunday Feb.9th 2025 Alchemy Elixirs and a little history

In ancient China, "Alchemy" was originally a search for immortality through various drugs, herbs, and chemicals. This is known as Wai Tan (External Alchemy). It was developed probably around the 4th century BC, half a millennium before the earliest reference to alchemy in the Western world. Alongside, a little later, was developed Nei Tan (Internal Alchemy), which was actually a sort of Taoist Yoga or Internal Meditation practices, not unlike Indian Tantra.
It resembled external alchemy only in its terminology (the alchemical terms having a symbolic rather than a literal meaning). Internal Alchemy had as its aim the cultivation of the life-force, and the consequent attainment of Immortality of the personality.
A basic premise of the the esoteric or Nei Tan Taoist Alchemy is that man has only a limited store of vital-force (Original Yuan Chi). This leaks away through day-to-day activities, and when it's all gone, the person's dead. But it is possible to make the Chi go back inside, rather than outwards, and then up the spine to the crown of the head.
Taoist practitioners of "Internal Alchemy" (Nei Tan) refer to a continual circulation of the Chi (vitality) up the primary Yang (positive), back or Governor Channel (Du Mo) and down the primary Yin (negative), front or Functional Channel (Ren Mo) of the body.
This has similarities to the Tantric Kundalini. In ascending, the Chi progresses through various stations, which are given exotic names like the Elixer-field, the Yellow Hall, the Heaven. The difference with Shiva Shakti based Tantra, is that reaching the top of the head, the Chi then descends down the front of the body, down to the navel, and then around again, forming a complete circuit. This circuit is known as "Circulation of the Light" or "Microcosmic Orbit".

The Microcosmic Orbit contains and stores the Chi of the Energy Body. It is a dynamic meditation creating a balanced Yin/Yang flow of perpetual Chi, circling around the spine and chest. Also known as “Embryonic Breathing”, this meditation balances the pre-natal Chi (from Heaven) and post-natal blood (from Earth Body and Ancestors) and stabilizes all Yin/Yang Chi flow in the meridians. This is a tradition of transformation of the vital force, the so-called "Inner Alchemy" because it uses alchemical metaphors and is a quest for Immortality. It is this esoteric Taoism which constitutes the native Chinese counterpart to Indian and Tibetan Tantra and Western Qabalah.

Fusion of the Five Elements Fusion of the Five Elements - Harmonizing the 'Five Phases of Chi Flow (Wu Xing)'. Fusion practice transforms negative emotions into positive. It harmonizes the 'Five Shen', the biological-psychological intelligences of the personal self. In this practice these "Five Vital Organ Spirits", also known as the “Interior Gods”, fuse their essence and natural virtue (De) into a pearl of 'Original Chi' (Yuan Chi) in the 'Belly Cauldron (Tan Tian)'. This 'Divine Pearl' activates the Yin/Yang pulsation of the 'Eight Cosmic Forces (Trigram Energy)' that flow into the 'Eight Extraordinary Vessels' of the human body. These deep energy channels form the blue print or matrix of our personal energy, and supplies the twelve regular meridians with Chi. When these eight psychic energy channels are activated, they collectively open the Macrocosmic Orbit (Large Heavenly Round) and can heal at a very deep level. It is faster and far more powerful than acupuncture or herbs for healing chronic illness. This practice opens deep awareness of the 'Chi Field' beyond the body, hence its reputation for awakening psychic powers (known as the eight Siddhas in a parallel Indian tradition).

Harnessing Qi: A Guide to Microcosmic Orbit Meditation For men and women.
This can be done by men and women, however very important as a beggining practice for gentlemen that want to continue with the other Taoist techniques.
Remember imagination is everything, said Einstein 😉 use your imagination, visualize Like a child, open mind.
Purpose: The Microcosmic Orbit is designed to circulate energy around the body's primary energy channels, transforming physical energy into spiritual energy. This practice is believed to enhance health, vitality, and spiritual awareness.
Steps:
• Preparation:
Find a Quiet Space: Choose a place where you won't be disturbed.
• Comfortable Position: Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the ground or cross-legged on the floor. Ensure your spine is straight but not rigid.
• Relax: Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths to relax your body. Let go of tension from each part of your body starting from your feet up to your head.
• Breathing:
• Abdominal Breathing: Begin with deep, slow breaths into your abdomen. Inhale through your nose, allowing your belly to expand, and exhale through your mouth or nose, letting your belly contract. This type of breathing helps in cultivating and storing qi in the lower dantian.
• Focus on Energy Points:
• Lower Dantian: Imagine a warm, glowing ball of energy (qi) just below your navel. Visualize this ball growing brighter with each breath.
• Perineum: From the lower dantian, mentally guide this energy down to the perineum, the point between your anus and genitals.
• Circulating Energy:
• Up the Spine: With each inhalation, imagine this energy rising up your spine:
• Sacrum (at the base of the spine)
• Mid-back (opposite the heart)
• Upper Back (at the base of the neck)
• Crown (top of the head)
• Visualize this energy moving smoothly, like water flowing through a channel.
• Down the Front: Exhale, guiding the energy:
• From the Crown down the front of your face
• Throat (just below the Adam's apple)
• Heart (center of the chest)
• Solar Plexus (below the ribcage)
• Back to the Lower Dantian
• Repeat the Cycle:
• Continue this cycle of breathing and visualization several times. With each cycle, try to feel the energy becoming more tangible or visualize it more vividly.
• Balancing and Storing Energy:
• After several cycles, focus on the lower dantian again, imagining the energy settling and storing there, becoming more concentrated and stable.
• Closing the Meditation:
• Reverse the Flow: Optionally, you can do a few cycles in reverse (down the back, up the front) to balance the energy flow.
• Seal the Energy: Visualize sealing the energy within your lower dantian with a final inhale, then exhale naturally.
• Grounding: Rub your hands together to generate warmth, then lightly massage your face, head, and neck to bring yourself back to physical awareness.
• Post-Meditation:
• Reflect: Spend a moment reflecting on your experience. How do you feel? Was there any part of the body where you felt the energy more intensely?
• Hydrate: Drink water to help with the energy flow and physical integration of the practice.
Tips:
• Consistency: Practice regularly for best results. Even a few minutes daily can be beneficial.
• Patience: This is an internal practice that takes time to feel physical sensations or see changes in health or consciousness.
• Guidance: If possible, learn from or consult with a Taoist teacher for personalized advice or corrections.
✨️As you near the conclusion of your practice, consciously direct the energy you have cultivated to your Lower Tan Tien, the area located in your lower abdomen. Place your hands gently over this part of your body, allowing the energy to settle and center there. This act of grounding the energy serves to anchor it within you, providing a reservoir of vitality that you can carry with you throughout the day.
✨️In addition to alleviating stress and recharging your vital energy, many practitioners of Microcosmic Orbit Meditation discover that this practice enhances mental clarity and strengthens their connection to their higher truths. This meditation can serve as an excellent tool for those moments when you seek to reconnect with your life’s path and reaffirm your purpose. By regularly engaging in this practice, you may find that you cultivate a deeper understanding of yourself and your place within the universe, leading to a more fulfilling and intentional life.
Enjoy!

Sexual Alchemy or "Bedroom Arts"
• Known as "Fangzhong Shu" in Chinese, these practices are part of Taoist sexual practices aimed at health preservation and spiritual cultivation through sexual activity:
• Retention and Circulation: Instead of ejaculation, one learns to circulate sexual energy back into the body. Techniques include:
• Testicle Breathing: Contracting and releasing the pelvic floor muscles in sync with breathing to draw energy up the spine.
Here find two explanations to the Testicular Breathing
The Testicle Breathing exercise involves a deliberate contraction of the Chi Muscle (an ensemble of muscles that surround the anus, perineum, penis, testicles, and urethra), applied in combination with a specific breathing sequence, while simultaneously drawing and pushing Jing Chi Energy through the Dantian.
One of the ideas behind the need of doing this exercise is that we have a predominantly sedentary lifestyle and additionally wear tight underwear, both being factors that create tension and stasis of sexual Life Force Energy in the testicles, which can cause loss of vitality and a range of health problems.
Health Benefits of Testicular Breathing
Taoist Testicular Breathing is thought to have a range of health benefits, including:
Energizes the testicles with fresh Qi Life Force
Unblocks stagnant sexual energy and transforms it into higher forms of energy
Increases testicular health and overall male sexual performance
Stimulates blood flow to the penis, while supporting better erections and preventing Premature Ejaculation (PE) and Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
Diminishes testicular pains
Alleviates sexual frustration, stress, and anxiety
Supports controlling sexual energy
Improves overall health and vitality
Rejuvenates the prostate, kidneys, and other internal organs
Complements Semen Retention practices.
How to Perform Testicle Breathing
Testicle Breathing is a technique that uses the mind, breathing exercises, and specific muscle contractions to move and circulate internal Life Energy across the body.
✨️One first starts by freeing the testicles, that is, by removing any underwear or tight clothing. In any case, the testicles need to hang freely without any obstruction.
✨️Sit at the edge of the bed, couch or chair. The Testicle Breathing exercise is done preferably standing with slightly bent knees and the feet hip-width apart, but it can also be carried out while sitting on the edge of a chair.
✨️Press your tongue on the palate, completing thus is the loop between the anterior and posterior channels of the Micro cosmic circuit. If sitting, your feet should press firmly on the floor, and your palms should be on your knees.
✨️Then breathe in and out through your nose while visualizing Life Energy (light or a ball of light) flowing down into the testicles when inhaling, and up along the spine into the brain when exhaling.
✨️While inhaling you can simultaneously perform the Mula Bandha exercise (a type of Yogic Kegel Exercise), which brings the testicles in an upward direction (pulls them up). While exhaling you release the contraction of the pelvic floor muscles (the Mula Bandha), which then lowers the testicles.
Explanation once again, many men get overwhelmed but don't, take your time. Understand it first. Consciously.
✨Make sure you are relaxed, and if you see that the tension is still there, take a walk, or do Hatha Yoga, or any other thing that will make you feel at ease, before going to the next step.
✨️Inhale slowly and contract your pelvic muscles so that your testicles are drawn to your body. While inhaling, visualize your breath as a flow of energy that fills your testicles.
✨️Retain your breath for a while, as long as you feel it is comfortable, and then exhale and relax the pelvic contraction and the testicles. Continue this pattern of breathing until you feel you accumulated enough cold energy in your scrotum.
✨️The breathing cycle should be repeated about nine times, after which one inhales deeply and holds the breath while doing the so-called Taoist Big Draw, which entails drawing aroused sexual energy/life force energy, up the higher Dantian energy centers of the body and thereby transforming sexual energy into spiritual energy.
Afterwards one can repeat the set of nine several more times, typically three to six times. Testicle Breathing can be done at any time of the day. It’s thought that the best results of Testicular Breathing can be achieved if combined with structural Semen Retention practices.
You may perform a series of nine such breaths, then take a break and perform another three to six sets. Be perfectly aware, however, that during the exhalation you eliminate all impurities in the pelvic area.
The powerful flow of energy generated by this type of breathing will accelerate your blood circulation in the pelvic area.
Use your mind to determine the movement of the testicles, not the contraction of the anal sphincters.
After one or two weeks of practice you may notice the actual movement of the testicles. This movement confirms the fact that the breathing method is complete.
At a certain level of practice you will manage to keep your abdomen still, and the only movement you will notice is on your scrotum. You may watch this in the mirror.
Breathe only through the nose, as the warm air inhaled in this manner provides a balanced vital force. The whole body should be relaxed, as if in meditation.

✨️Find the right muscles. To find your pelvic floor muscles, tighten the muscles that you use to keep from passing gas or to stop urinating midstream. These actions use your pelvic floor muscles. You also can place your finger into your anus and squeeze as if trying to hold in urine. A feeling of tightness on your finger means you're squeezing the pelvic floor muscles.

• The Big Draw: A method where at the peak of sexual arousal, one uses specific breathing and muscle contractions to redirect sexual energy.

FOR COUPLES AND GOOD FRIENDS
• Dual Cultivation: Involves practices with a partner where both individuals aim to enhance each other's qi, promoting health and harmony. The focus is on mutual pleasure without necessarily leading to ejaculation, preserving male vitality.
Important Considerations:
• Breathing and Meditation:
• Breathing Techniques: Deep, slow abdominal breathing is crucial, often synchronized with the partner to harmonize energies.
• Visualization: Practitioners visualize energy moving through the body or between partners, enhancing the flow and circulation of qi.
• Ethical Considerations:
• Consent and Respect: All practices must be consensual, respectful, and mutually beneficial. The focus is on partnership and understanding, not just personal gain or pleasure.
• Health and Safety: Modern practitioners should be cautious about adopting ancient practices without understanding modern health implications. There's a need to balance traditional wisdom with contemporary medical understanding, especially regarding sexual health and contraception.
• Cultural Sensitivity: These practices come from ancient Chinese culture, and while they can be adapted for modern use, respect for their origins and context is vital.
• Education: Learning from credible sources or teachers is important. Books like "The Tao of Sexology" by Stephen T. Chang or "Taoist Secrets of Love" by Mantak Chia provide foundational knowledge, though they should be approached with a critical eye to modern health standards.
• Spiritual vs. Physical: Remember, Taoist sexual practices aim not just for physical satisfaction but for spiritual growth. They're part of a holistic approach to life where every action, including sexual activity, is seen as an opportunity for cultivation of self and connection with the universe.
If you're considering exploring these practices, perhaps this could be a time for some reflective reading or meditation on the philosophical aspects before engaging in any physical practice. Remember, these practices require understanding, patience, and, most importantly, a partner who is equally interested and informed about these techniques.

✨️Ovarian Breathing
• Purpose: This technique is aimed at cultivating and circulating sexual energy (jing) from the ovaries to other parts of the body, transforming it into life-force energy (qi). It's believed to help in regulating hormonal balance, enhancing fertility, and promoting longevity.
• Steps:
• Preparation: Sit comfortably with your spine straight. Relax your body and focus on your breath.
• Breathing: Start with deep abdominal breathing, inhaling through your nose and expanding your lower abdomen. Exhale through your mouth, contracting the abdomen.
• Visualization: Visualize your ovaries as two small, vibrant spheres of energy. With each inhale, imagine drawing this energy out from the ovaries, up the spine (similar to the Microcosmic Orbit), and then down the front of your body back to the lower dantian (a point just below the navel).
• Contractions: On the exhale, gently contract the pelvic floor muscles to help guide the energy upward. This combines with breath to move the energy around the body.
• Cycle: Repeat this cycle, visualizing the energy becoming stronger and more vibrant with each breath, circulating around the body in a continuous loop.
